What is gibson sonex?

The Gibson Sonex was a line of guitars produced by Gibson from 1980 to 1984. The Sonex was a budget-friendly alternative to the more expensive Gibson models and featured some unique design elements.

One of the most distinctive features of the Sonex is its "Resonwood" body, which was made from a composite material that combined hardwood with resin. This material was intended to provide a more consistent tone and resonance compared to traditional wood bodies.

The Sonex also featured a bolt-on maple neck and either a single humbucker pickup or two humbuckers, depending on the model. Some versions of the Sonex also included a built-in active preamp for added tonal options.

Despite its unique features, the Sonex did not gain widespread popularity and was discontinued after a few years of production. Today, the Gibson Sonex guitars are considered somewhat rare and collectible among guitar enthusiasts.
